
Moore Breaks Program Record At UAB Spring Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford track and field wrapped up their second outdoor competition of 2021 at the UAB Spring Invitational, Saturday.
Samford continued its outdoor season a little closer to home at the UAB Track and Field Spring Invitational, with yet another record breaking meet. Titus Moore garnered first-place honors in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a program record time of 13.96, breaking his own record of 14.0 set in 2019.
All-in-all the Bulldogs secured six first-place finishes across the two-day meet. In addition to Moore's title, Mary Grace Strozier finished first in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:12.25. Emma Garner and Allie Nelson provided the one-two punch for the Bulldogs finishing first and second in the women's 1500-meter run crossing the line in 4:28.19 and 4:34.24 respectively.
Matt Cahoon competed in four events for the Bulldogs claiming one second-place finish and three third-place finishes. Cahoon claimed the silver in the men's javelin throw (54.44 meters), and bronze in the men's discus (46.90 meters), the men's hammer throw (45.59 meters), and the men's shot put (13.93 meters). Maggie Johnston also had a strong showing for the Bulldogs in the women's field events claiming second-place points in the women's discus throw (50.04 meters) and the women's hammer throw (51.78 meters).
Justin Stuckey continued his outstanding 2021 finishing first in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.06 meters. Tally Wilson also brought home a first-place finish for the Bulldogs with the top performance in the women's pole vault with a vault of 3.95 meters. Edwin Rainey capped off the first-place finishes for the Bulldogs claiming top honors in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.28 meters.
