BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team earned a 6-1 win over Chattanooga Friday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
The match was the final home match of the regular season for Samford, and was Senior Day for Victor Chaw, Tomas Santantonio and Rossouw Norval. Samford improves to 12-6 overall and 5-0 in Southern Conference play. Chattanooga falls to 7-10 overall and 2-3 in SoCon action.
 
Samford won all three doubles matches to take the first point of the contest. At No. 1 doubles, Chaw and Jim Hendrikx defeated Tomas Rodriguez and Peyton Gatti, 6-4. On the No. 2 doubles court, Santantonio and Eladio Fabregas earned a 6-3 win over Turner Voges and Simon Labbe. At No. 3 doubles, Norval and Mohammed Ali Bellalouna defeated Kerim Hyatt and Kaisei Kuroki, 6-4.
 
In singles, Samford earned wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 for the 6-1 win. At No. 1 singles, Norval defeated Rodriguez, 6-4, 6-2. On the No. 3 singles court, Fabregas earned a 6-0, 7-5 win over Hyatt.
 
At No. 4 singles, Hendrikx defeated Labbe, 6-1, 6-2. Santantonio earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles over Jeffrey Dewald. On the No. 6 singles court, Bellalouna defeated Jacob Marshall, 7-6, 6-0.
 
Samford will play at Mercer, Saturday, April 17. The match is set for a 2 p.m. (CT) start from Macon, Ga.
