KEY PLAYS
  • Just eight minutes into the game, Caroline Orman took off down the left flank and crossed the ball in hopes to find the feet of Kyla Reynolds, but it deflected off a Mercer defender resulting in an own goal to put the Bulldogs up 1-0 in the first half.
  • Samford would double the score at the 20:56 minute mark after Taylor Yount slipped a ball through to Kyla Reynolds who beat Mercer's left back on a foot race and then goalkeeper, Jordyn Ebert, to place the ball in the net with ease.
  • It wouldn't take long for the Bulldogs to strike again as Alyssa Frazier received a ball from Caroline Orman on the cross and within two touches, launched a shot from outside the box to the upper left netting of the goal for a 3-0 advantage.
  • After both teams returned to the field from a weather delay, Mercer scored its one and only goal of the game at the 56:45 minute mark after Nicole Icen struck a ball past Morgan McAslan off a cross from fellow teammate Jordan Lynn.
  • Samford would respond with a goal of its own less than a minute later after Nikki Bario sent a ball over the Mercer back line for Kyla Reynolds to run onto. Reynolds would loft the ball over the head of Jordyn Ebert off the bounce to extend Samford's lead to 4-1.
  • At the 67:26 minute mark, Kyla Reynolds registered a hat-trick after she used her speed once again to run onto a ball from Nikki Bario, allowing for a prime spot in front of goal where she placed the ball in the lower right side netting to further the Bulldogs lead.
  • Samford's final goal would come in the final 15 minutes of play with Audrey Kleiman beating her defender on the near-side touch line and crossing it into Morgan Greene who chested it down and finished it past Jordyn Ebert for a 6-1 victory.
