Samford Women’s Golf To Open 2021-22 Season At Hoover Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's golf team will open the 2021-22 season at the Hoover Invite, hosted by UAB, Monday and Tuesday. Due to flooding at the Hoover Country Club, the event has been moved to Heatherwood Golf and Country Club (par 72, 5,839 yards).

- Samford will look to get its season off to a good start at the local event.
BULLDOGS TO WATCH
- Samford's playing five for the tournament will be Bailey Dunstan, Sophie Membrino, Kelley Topiwala, Mary Kate Horton and Allison Dusek.
- Allison Howard, Tilly Kedzlie and Christian Williams will play as individuals.
- Dunstan led Samford as a freshman last season with a stroke average of 76.36. Fellow freshman Topiwala came in second at 77.36.
NEWS & NOTES
- A total of 11 full teams, along with individuals from two other squads will compete in the tournament.
- Samford will be joined in the field by UAB, Belmont, Florida Atlantic, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, South Alabama, Southern Illinois, Southern Mississippi, Troy and Louisiana-Monroe. Individuals from Alabama and Tulane will also compete in the event.
- The teams will play 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday. The tee times will be either 8:30 or 9 a.m.
