GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. ETSU (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's basketball team (11-5, 1-3 SoCon) will return home to host the ETSU Bucs (10-8, 2-3 SoCon) Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center. The game can be seen live on NexStar and ESPN+ with David Jackson (PBP) and Matt Matheny (Color) calling the action. Live stats will also be available at www.SamfordSports.com.
- Samford and ETSU are meeting for the 17th time, with ETSU holding a 15-1 series lead. The teams did not meet last season due to COVID-19 protocols. The last meeting in the series came on Feb. 22, 2020, with ETSU earning an 80-74 win in the Pete Hanna Center. Samford's win in the series came on Feb. 7, 2015, with Samford earning a 71-68 win in Johnson City, Tenn.
- The Bulldogs are coming into the game off an 87-64 loss at Wofford Wednesday evening. Jaden Campbell led Samford with 16 points. Logan Dye had 12 points, followed by Ques Glover with 10 points for Samford.
- Samford has been led in scoring so far this season by sophomore guard Ques Glover, who ranks second in the Southern Conference with an average of 18.6 points per game. Glover leads the SoCon in free throw percentage (.884) and ranks second in assists (4.3 apg.). Jermaine Marshall leads the league in rebounding, grabbing 8.6 boards per contest.
- ETSU has a mark of 10-8 overall and 2-3 in Southern Conference play. The Bucs are coming off a 78-69 loss at Furman Wednesday.
- ETSU has been led in scoring by David Sloan, averaging 12.8 points per game. Ledarrius Brewer is averaging 12.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, while Jordan King averages 12.0 points per contest. Ty Brewer is the team leader in rebounding, grabbing 6.6 boards per contest.
- ETSU is currently averaging 70.4 points per game, while giving up 71.3 points per game.
- Samford is averaging 74.9 points per game while giving up 73.5 entering Saturday afternoon's home game against ETSU.
- Samford has a record of 6-1 in the friendly confines of the Pete Hanna Center so far this season. The Bulldogs have earned home wins over Maryville, Spring Hill, Mississippi College, Alabama A&M, Kennesaw State and Western Carolina. Samford's lone home loss so far this season came against Belmont.
- Samford is No. 1 in the SoCon in turnovers forced per game (15.4) and No. 2 in steals per game (8.2). The Bulldogs forced a season-high 33 turnovers versus Spring Hill.

- Mr. Double-Double Jermaine Marshall (6-6, 225, So.) recorded his seventh double-double this season with 14 points and 11 boards in Samford's 85-60 win over Western Carolina. The Akron transfer has been a force on the wing for the Bulldogs, averaging 11.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.
- Ques Glover (6-0, 180, So.) has made a remarkable impact on the Bulldogs so far this year, ranking No. 2 the SoCon in scoring at 18.6 points per game while ranking second in the SoCon in assists at 4.3 per game. The Knoxville, Tenn., native, scored 16 points and dished out five assists in last Saturday's win over Western Carolina.
- Jaden Campbell (6-5, 195, Soph.) has been a major spark for the Bulldogs, averaging 10.8 points per game, ranking 22nd in the Southern Conference. The Brampton, Ontario native led the team with 16 points Wednesday night at Wofford.
- Wesley Cardet, Jr. (6-6, 205, Fr.), one of the nation's most sought after recruits, continues to develop as the season progresses. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native is averaging 9.1 points, and 4.2 rebounds per game. He led the team with 18 points last Saturday against Western Carolina. Cardet was the No. 60 ranked player in the nation and No. 13 at his position by Rivals at West Oaks.
- Jacob Tryon (6-11, 220, Sr.) has continued to be a presence down low for Samford this season. Tryon currently ranks fifth in the Southern Conference in blocked shots per game, averaging 1.3 per contest.

- After Saturday afternoon's home game against ETSU, Samford will play a pair of road games next week. The Bulldogs will play at VMI on Thursday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m. (CT). Samford will then play at UNCG on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 4 p.m. (CT).
