TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team battled the University of Alabama before falling in the Bulldogs' 2022 season opener, 5-2, Saturday evening at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.
Samford earned singles wins at No. 2 and No. 3. On the No. 2 court,
Mohammed Ali Bellalouna defeated Juan Martin, 6-2. At the No. 3 position,
Eladio Fabregas earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over German Samofalov.
Alabama won at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions to take the doubles point. In singles, the Crimson Tide picked up wins at No. 1, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 to take the 5-2 win.
Samford will next play on Jan. 21 at Florida State. The match is set for a 4 p.m. (CT) start from Tallahassee, Fla.
