TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Samford men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches, falling to Stetson and South Alabama, both by scores of 4-1, on the final day of the Florida State Invitational Saturday afternoon.

With the losses, Samford falls to 0-4 on the tough early season schedule.

In the Stetson match, Samford won the doubles point with wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. At No. 1, Eladio Fabregas and Will Gray defeated Clement Hamel and Diogo Marques, 6-2. On the No. 2 doubles court, Mohammed Ali Bellalouna and J.B. Pickard earned a 6-3 win over Fabian Penzofer and Tim Gennes. In singles, Stetson won on the No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 courts to close out the 4-1 win.

Against South Alabama, after the Jaguars took the doubles point, at No. 1 singles, Bellalouna picked up a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win over Sebastien Collard. South Alabama then earned wins on the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles courts to earn the 4-1 victory.

Samford will host Tennessee Tech on Saturday, Jan. 29. The match is set for an 11 a.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
