BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team picked up its second-straight win with a 7-0 sweep of the UT Martin Skyhawks Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.

With the win, Samford improves to 4-3 so far this season. UT Martin falls to 0-5 with the loss.

Samford won the doubles matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions to take an early 1-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles, Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg and Alexis Lopez defeated Julia Streif and Sina Albersmeier, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, Olivia Jablonski and Lindsay Song earned a 6-0 victory over Jillian Niedzialowski and Mizuki Sakurai. The doubles match at No. 3 was not finished.

In singles, Samford swept all six matches, all in straight sets. At No. 1 singles, Van Rensburg defeated Streif, 6-1, 6-3. On the No. 2 singles court, Samantha Nanere defeated Albersmeier, 6-3, 6-3. At No. 3 singles, Lopez earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Lia Espinal.

On the No. 4 singles court, Ally Hayduk defeated Aziza Aubin, 6-2, 6-2. Jablonski won on the No. 5 singles court, defeating Sakurai, 6-0, 6-1. At No. 6 singles, Song earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Niedzialowski.

Samford will play at Middle Tennessee on Friday, Feb. 18. The match is set for a 1 p.m. start from Murfreesboro, Tenn.
