MOBILE, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team fell at South Alabama by a score of 5-2 Sunday afternoon.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 4-5 on the young season. South Alabama improves to 7-1 with the win.
 
Samford won singles matches at No. 2 and No. 3. On the No. 2 court, Samantha Nanere defeated Yu Fujioka, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3. At No. 3 singles, Alexis Lopez earned a 6-3, 0-6, 6-2 victory over Luminita Tutunaru. The Jaguars took wins at No. 1, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. South Alabama also took the doubles point to earn the 5-2 win.
 
Samford will host in-state rival Troy on March 3. The match is set for a 1:30 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
