Men’s Basketball Heads To Chattanooga For Regular Season Finale

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
 - The Samford men's basketball team (20-9, 10-7 SoCon) will play at the Chattanooga Mocs (23-7, 13-4 SoCon) Saturday at 3 p.m. (CT) at McKenzie Arena in the regular season finale for both teams. The game can be seen live on ESPN+ with Chris Goforth (PBP) and Todd Agne (Color) calling the action. Live stats will also be available at www.GoMocs.com.    
 
  • Samford has won nine of its last 10 games. The Bulldogs have won 20 games in the regular season for the first time since 1998-99 and just the third time in its Division I history.    
  • Samford's 10 Southern Conference wins are the most since the Bulldogs joined the league for the 2008-09 season. This also marks the first time Samford has posted a winning record in SoCon play.
  • Samford and Chattanooga are meeting for the 107th time, with the Mocs holding a 65-41 series lead. The teams played earlier this season, on Feb. 2 in the Pete Hanna Center, with Samford earning an 80-72 victory over Chattanooga.   
  • Samford is coming into the game off an 83-75 win over Furman Wednesday evening. Samford was led in the game by Ques Glover with 22 points and six assists. Logan Dye had 19 points and six rebounds. Jermaine Marshall had 16 points and nine rebounds. Jaden Campbell added 12 points for the Bulldogs.
  • Samford has been led in scoring so far this season by sophomore guard Ques Glover, who ranks second in the Southern Conference with an average of 19.4 points per game. Glover ranks second in the SoCon in assists per game (4.5) and sixth in free throw percentage (.813).  Jermaine Marshall ranks third in the SoCon in rebounding, grabbing 8.2 boards per contest.
  • Chattanooga enters Saturday afternoon's contest with a mark of 23-7 overall and 13-4 in SoCon play. The Mocs have secured the SoCon regular season title. UTC is coming off an 83-77 win at ETSU Wednesday. Grant Ledford led the Mocs with 25 points, while Malachi Smith added 20 points.    
  • Chattanooga has been led so far this season by Malachi Smith, averaging 20.5 points per game.
  • Chattanooga is averaging 75.3 points per game so far this season. The Mocs are giving up 65.2 points per contest. 
  • Samford is averaging 75.8 points per game while also giving up 74.4 entering Saturday's game at Chattanooga.
  • Samford has a record of 5-7 in road games so far this season. The Bulldogs have earned road wins at Oregon State, Alabama State, Ole Miss, Western Carolina and ETSU.    
  • Samford is No. 1 in the SoCon in turnovers forced per game (13.9) and No. 2 in steals per game (7.6). The Bulldogs forced a season-high 33 turnovers versus Spring Hill.
  • Samford has made a habit of winning close games, posting a record of 7-3 in games decided by three points or less. The Bulldogs are 2-0 in overtime games this season.
  • The Bulldogs are 15-1 when leading at halftime this season and 14-4 on the year when controlling the opening tipoff.
  • Samford's bench has outscored the opposition's reserves 18 times this season, leading to a 14-4 mark in those contests.
  • Mr. Double-Double Jermaine Marshall (6-6, 225, So.) recorded his 10th double-double this season with 15 points and 10 boards in Samford's 76-74 win over The Citadel. The 10 double-doubles rank second in the SoCon this season behind VMI's Jake Stephens with 11. The Akron transfer has been a force on the wing for the Bulldogs, averaging 12.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
  • Ques Glover (6-0, 180, So.) has made a remarkable impact on the Bulldogs so far this year, ranking No. 2 in the SoCon in scoring at 19.4 points per game while ranking second in the SoCon in assists at 4.5 per game. The Knoxville, Tenn., native, scored a career-high 30 points in Samford's game at The Citadel.
  • Jaden Campbell (6-5, 195, Soph.) has been a major spark for the Bulldogs, averaging 10.3 points per game, ranking 26th in the Southern Conference. The Brampton, Ontario native had a big game in Samford's win over Furman, contributing 12 points to the win.
  • Jacob Tryon (6-11, 220, Sr.) has continued to be a presence down low for Samford this season. Tryon currently ranks sixth in the Southern Conference in blocked shots per game, averaging 1.0 per contest. He had four blocked shots in the Bulldogs' 65-60 overtime win over Wofford.
  • In the last meeting between Samford and Chattanooga, played on Feb. 2 in the Pete Hanna Center, Samford earned an 80-72 win over the Mocs. For Samford in the win, Ques Glover led the way with 20 points. Logan Dye posted his first career double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jermaine Marshall and Jaden Campbell added 13 points each for the Bulldogs.

  • After Saturday's game, Samford will prepare for next week's Southern Conference Tournament in Asheville, N.C. The Bulldogs' opponent for the quarterfinals will be released when the league releases the tournament bracket on Sunday.
