BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team won its fifth-straight match, earning a 6-1 victory over Mercer Tuesday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win Samford improves to 9-5 overall and 2-0 in Southern Conference play. Mercer falls to 6-9 overall and 0-2 in league action with the loss.
 
Mercer earned wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts to pick up the first point of the match. Samford won the contest on the No. 3 doubles court, with Samantha Nanere and Sofia Zaprianov earning the victory.
 
In singles, Samford swept all six matches to take the 6-1 victory. Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg won at No. 1 singles. Nanere won on the No. 2 singles court, while Alexis Lopez took the victory at No. 3 singles. Ally Hayduk won on the No. 4 singles court, with Zaprianov winning at No. 5 singles. Lindsay Song earned the win on the No. 6 singles court.
 
Samford will step out of conference play to host Memphis on Sunday, March 27. The match is set for a 3 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
