BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team fell at home to Furman by a score of 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 3-11 overall and 1-3 in Southern Conference play. Furman improves to 10-7 overall and 2-0 in league play.
 
Samford won the doubles point, taking the wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. At No. 2 doubles, Yerrassyl Murat and Harrison Williams defeated James Roelofse and Emil Westling, 7-6. On the No. 3 court, Eladio Fabregas and Matthew Gooch defeated Cole Burnam and Elijah Poritzky, 7-6.
 
In singles, Samford's Mohammed Ali Bellalouna defeated Ivan Mitric, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 on the No. 1 court. The Paladins, however, won on the other five singles courts to take the 5-2 win.
 
Samford will host cross-town rival UAB on Thursday, March 31. The match is set for a 2 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
