BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team fell at home to the Memphis Tigers by a score of 4-1 Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 9-6 on the season. Memphis improves to 15-5 with the win.
 
Memphis won the doubles point, taking the matches on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. Samford won on the No. 3 doubles court where Samantha Nanere and Sofia Zaprianov defeated Dolavee Tumthong and Miriam Grosmann, 6-2.
 
In singles, Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg defeated Aran Teixido Garcia, 6-3, 6-2 on the No. 1 court. Memphis, however, picked up wins on the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 courts to earn the 4-1 win. The singles matches at No. 4 and No. 6 were not finished.
 
Samford will host Western Carolina on Friday, April 1. The match is set for a 1 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
