CHARLESTON, S.C. – Samford men's tennis team earned a 7-0 win over The Citadel for the team's first Southern Conference win of the season Monday afternoon.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference play. The Citadel falls to 3-13 overall and 0-2 in league play.
 
Samford swept the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead.
 
In singles, Samford swept the six matches to take the 7-0 win. At No. 1 singles, Jim Hendrikx defeated Hayden Shoemake, 6-4, 7-6. On the No. 2 singles court, Mohammed Ali Bellalouna earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Zvonko Bencedic. At No. 3 singles, Yerrassyl Murat defeated Sebastian Kamieniecki, 6-3, 6-4.
 
On the No. 4 singles court, J.B. Pickard defeated Lucas Robins, 6-4, 6-2. Will Gray earned a 6-2, 6-7, 1-0 win over Josiah Schainblatt at No. 5 singles. On the No. 6 singles court, Harrison Williams defeated Andrew Darby, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6.
 
Samford will step out of SoCon play to take on UNC Wilmington Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Charleston, S.C.
