BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 6-1 win over the Mercer Bears Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 6-13 overall and 4-3 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs will be the No. 3 seed in next week's Southern Conference Tournament. Mercer falls to 7-14 overall and 1-6 in league action.
 
In doubles, Samford won on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts to take an early 1-0 lead.
 
In singles, Samford won at the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 positions to take the 6-1 victory.
 
At No. 2 singles, Jim Hendrikx defeated David Georgadze, 6-4, 6-4. On the No. 3 singles court, Eladio Fabregas defeated Samuel Macleod, 6-4, 6-3. At No. 4 singles, Yerrassyl Murat defeated Marceau Fouilhoux, 4-6, 6-4, 12-10.
 
On the No. 5 singles court, J.B. Pickard earned a 6-4, 7-5 win over Andrew Branicki. At No. 6 singles, Harrison Williams defeated Danny Flynn, 4-6, 7-6, 10-5.
 
Samford will take on UNC Greensboro in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament on Thursday, April 21 at 2 p.m. (CT) in Chattanooga, Tenn.
