Perrin Earns SoCon Presidential Scholarship

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford soccer's senior midfielder Zoë Perrin was named the winner of the Southern Conference Presidential Scholarship when the league released the winners of its postgraduate scholarships Friday morning.
"We are extremely proud of Zoë," Samford head coach Todd Yelton said. "She has meant so much to our program and this university. I am very excited to see all of her accomplishments in the future. She is a very good soccer player, but an even better person."
Perrin is one of just 10 student-athletes from SoCon schools to earn postgraduate scholarships from the league. The recipients are nominated by their schools and selected by the Southern Conference Graduate Scholar Committee. The scholarships, worth $2,000 each, are awarded to student-athletes about to receive their undergraduate degrees who intend to pursue advanced degrees in graduate or professional school. The student-athletes are evaluated on academics, athletics and community service.
Perrin was a four-year member of the Samford soccer team and saw time in 35 games during her career. She saved her best season for her senior campaign, scoring four goals and dishing out one assist for a total of nine points. She showcased a flare for the dramatics twice this season with game winners versus Jacksonville State and Mercer, with the latter coming in a 1-0 victory in the SoCon Tournament semifinals.
During her time at Samford, the Bulldogs captured four regular-season SoCon titles and two tournament titles, in 2019 and 2021. This past fall, Samford captured its first outright NCAA Tournament win in a 2-0 victory at Auburn.
In the classroom, the exercise science major boasts a 3.874 GPA and was on the Dean's List during every semester. In the community, she wrote letters to nursing home patients at Brookdale Senior Living. In addition to that, she worked with Girl's Inc of Central Alabama as a pen pal with inner-city youth and Girls Love Mail to send letters to breast cancer patients. After graduation, the Mandeville, Louisiana, native will stay in the Southern Conference as she begins graduate school at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga this summer.
