SPARTANBURG. S.C. – The Samford women's golf team finished second in the Terrier Intercollegiate, hosted by Wofford College, Monday and Tuesday at Carolina Country Club (Par 72, 6,056 yards).

"I'm proud of the way the ladies battled," Samford head coach Joe Davidson said. "We just didn't finish as strongly as we needed to today, but I like the direction this team is headed. This gives us a lot to build on for the rest of the season."

As a team, Samford finished with a three-round score of 897 (309-284-304) to place second in the 14-team field. Elon won the tournament, finishing just three strokes ahead of Samford at 894 (294-300-300).

Samford was led individually by freshman Gabi Nicastro, tying for fourth in the 75-player field with a three-round score of 218 (75-71-72). Bailey Dunstan tied for 13^th with a final score of 226 (78-69-79), while Anika Richards (79-78-73) and Kelley Topiwala (79-71-80) both tied for 21^st with identical scores of 230. Grace Engel finished in a tie for 25^th at 232 (77-73-82).

Samford will wrap up its fall schedule by playing in the Mercer Invitational, Oct. 30-31 in Macon, Ga.
