Women’s Basketball To Host LaGrange Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --
The Samford women's basketball team will return home to play host to LaGrange College on Wednesday, Dec. 13. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start from the Pete Hanna Center. 
 
The Bulldogs and Panthers are meeting for the first time ever in women's basketball.
 
The Bulldogs come into this game with a record of 6-3. Samford most recently fell at Alabama, 69-39 Sunday afternoon. Samford has a record of 5-0 so far this season in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
Entering this week, sophomore Masyn Marchbanks leads the team in scoring, averaging 11.6 points per game. Graduate transfer Lexie Pritchard is scoring 8.9 points per game. She is also dishing out a team-high 4.4 assists per contest. Redshirt sophomore Carly Heidger is averaging 8.9 points per game entering Wednesday night's game. Graduate transfer Sadie Stetson is averaging 8.3 points per game. She also leads the team in steals, averaging 2.0 steals per game. 
 
Entering this week, Samford leads the Southern Conference in blocked shots (4.1 pg.). Individually, Emily Bowman leads the SoCon in blocked shots (2.8 pg.). Pritchard ranks second in the league in assist-turnover ratio (1.6) and ranks third in assists per game (4.4), while Stetson ranks second in steals (2.0 pg.).
 
LaGrange currently has a record of 6-3 on the young season. The Panthers last played at home against Point, falling by a score of 66-60 last Wednesday.
 
LaGrange has been led so far this season by Zyhia Johnson, averaging 19.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Laila Battle is scoring 11.0 points and dishing out 4.0 assists per game for the Panthers. Amanda McLendon leads LaGrange in rebounding, grabbing 9.7 boards per game.
 
Wednesday night's broadcast on ESPN+ will be completely student run. Every position, including the on-air positions will be run by current Samford University students. Parker May, a freshman from Collierville, Tenn., will handle play-by-play duties, while Will Lowman, a freshman from Tucker, Ga., will provide color commentary.
