HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Samford men's tennis team earned a 4-3 win at Southern Mississippi Friday evening at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 4-4 on the season. Southern Miss drops to 3-3 with the loss.
 
In doubles, Samford earned wins on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts to pick up the first point of the contest. The match at No. 2 doubles was not finished. At No. 1 doubles, Maxwell Giddens and Sandeep Mohandoss defeated Saheb Sodhi and Dakotah Bobo, 6-0. On the No. 3 doubles court, Darcy Nicholls and Will Gray defeated Shamirul Shahril and Pasawee Reansuwong, 6-4.
 
In singles, Samford picked up wins at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 spots to earn the 4-3 win. At No. 1, Mohammed Ali Bellalouna defeated Bobo, 6-3, 6-1. On the No. 2 court, Giddens earned a 7-6, 6-3 win over Shahril. At No. 5 singles, Nicholls defeated Taras Ignatiuk, 6-1, 6-1.
 
Samford will next open Southern Conference play at ETSU on Feb. 26. The match is set for a 12 p.m. (CT) start from Johnson City, Tenn.
