SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford women's basketball senior guard Andrea Bailey was named the Southern Conference Sports Media Association Player of the Year when the SoCon released its postseason women's basketball awards Tuesday afternoon.
 
In total, the Bulldog quartet of Bailey, Sussy Ngulefac, Carly Heidger and Masyn Marchbanks each landed on at least one team voted on by the league's coaches and Media. 
 
To go along with the second SoCon Player of the Year award of her Samford career, Bailey was also named first team All-SoCon by the coaches and media and All-Defensive team by the coaches. 
 
Bailey led the SoCon in field goals (172), total points (477), points per game (17.7), steals per game (2.89) and total steals (78). The senior ranked second in the league in free throw percentage (85.6) and three-point percentage (35%). Bailey set a single-game program with 37 points at Alabama A&M and collected a pair of double-doubles on the season. 
 
Sussy Ngulefac was named third team All-SoCon by the coaches. The sophomore averaged 11.9 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per contest. Ngulefac led the SoCon in field goal percentage making 63% of the shots she took this year. 
 
Maysn Marchbanks was named to the All-Freshman team by the coaches and the media, while Carly Heidger joins Marchbanks on the coaches' team. 
 
Marchbanks averaged 12.5 points per game in SoCon play to rank second on the Bulldogs only behind Bailey. 
 
Heidger scored 23 points against Wofford to set the most points scored by a freshman in the Carley Kuhns era en route to averaging 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game during her freshman campaign. 
 
Samford will open play in the 2022 Southern Conference Tournament by taking on ETSU in Thursday's quarterfinal round. The game is set for a 4:45 p.m. (CT) start from Asheville, N.C.
