BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford Men's Tennis Team fell 5-2 at home to the Jaguars of South Alabama on Friday afternoon.

With the loss, the Bulldogs' record slips to 1-4 while the Jaguars improve to 4-3.

The Jaguars claimed the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles flights to grab an early 1-0 lead. Maxwell Giddens and Sandeep Mohandoss fought hard in the first doubles flight and battled to a 5-5 score against Jack Clements and Maxime before South Alabama claimed the point.

In single's action, Mohandoss picked up his first victory of the season by besting Clements in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) in the No. 3 singles spot. Darcy Nicholls grabbed the Bulldogs' other point in the contest, picking up a straight-set win over Stefyn Dippenaar (7-5, 6-3) in the No. 6 singles flight.

The Jaguars picked up points at the No. 1, 2, 4, and 5 flights to give way to the 5-2 final score.

The Bulldogs will return to the court on Sunday, Feb. 5 when they host North Alabama from the Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavillion at 1:00 p.m. (CST).
