BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford Women's Tennis Team notched a 5-2 victory over the Alabama State Hornets on Saturday, Feb. 4 from the Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavilion.
The Bulldogs improve to 2-2 with the win while Alabama State falls to 0-4.
In doubles, Samantha Nanere and Lindsay Song set the tone for the day with a 6-0 win over Bea Acena and Francesca Duca in the No. 1 flight. Alexis Lopez and Ally Hayduk bested Sahra Bouchaala and Timonthee Leguad in the No. 2 flight to clinch the double's point for the Bulldogs.
In singles, Lopez (6-2, 6-2), Hayduk (6-0, 6-1), Song (6-2, 6-3), and Cameron Rogin (6-3, 6-2) all logged a straight-set victory.
The Bulldogs face a quick turnaround, as they'll return to the court on Sunday, Feb. 5 to host North Alabama at 5:00 p.m. (CST)
