SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford freshman Darcy Nicholls was named the Southern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Month when the league released its monthly awards for February Friday afternoon.
 
During the month of February, Nicholls posted a singles record of 5-0, splitting time between the No. 5 and No. 6 positions. He also went 3-2 in doubles with partner, Will Gray at the No. 3 spot.
 
In singles, he earned wins in matches against South Alabama, North Alabama, Alabama A&M, Southern Mississippi and ETSU. In doubles, he picked up victories against North Alabama, Alabama A&M and Southern Mississippi.
 
For the season, Nicholls has a record of 7-4 in singles, including a 3-0 mark in SoCon play. In doubles, he has posted a mark of 5-3, 2-1 in league action.
 
Nicholls and the Bulldogs will play at Rice this evening. The match is set for a 5 p.m. start from Houston, Texas.
