BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team swept the UNC Greensboro Spartans, 7-0, for the team's first Southern Conference win of the season Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in Southern Conference play. UNC Greensboro falls to 1-8 overall and 0-1 in league play.
 
Samford won the doubles matches on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts to take an early 1-0 lead.
 
The Bulldogs then took all six singles matches, five coming in straight sets, to come away with the 7-0 win. At No. 1 singles, Mohammed Ali Bellalouna defeated David Flisberg, 6-3, 7-6. On the No. 2 singles court, Maxwell Giddens earned a 6-1, 6-7, 10-3 win over John Gabelic. At No. 3 singles, Sandeep Mohandoss defeated Tymofiy Khrystyuk, 6-4, 6-4.
 
On the No. 4 singles court J.B. Pickard defeated Devon Moskowitz, 6-4, 6-3. At No. 5 singles, Darcy Nicholls picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Christopher Johns. At No. 6 singles, Santiago Arrendondo defeated Andrew Black, 6-1, 7-6.
 
Samford will host The Citadel Sunday. The match is set for an 11 a.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
