BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team earned a 6-1 win over The Citadel Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in Southern Conference play. The Citadel falls to 5-13 overall and 0-1 in league play.
 
In doubles, Samford won on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts to pick up the first point of the contest.
 
Samford took wins in singles on the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 courts to earn the 6-1 win. At No. 1 singles, Mohammed Ali Bellalouna defeated Hayden Shoemake, 6-2, 6-2. On the No. 2 singles court, Maxwell Giddens earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Zvonko Bencedic.
 
At No. 3 singles, Sandeep Mohandoss defeated Lucas Robins, 6-2, 6-1. On the No. 5 court, Darcy Nicholls defeated Ted Bagwell, 6-3, 6-0. At No. 6 singles, Santiago Arredondo defeated Andrew Darby, 6-1, 6-4.
 
Samford will next host Youngstown State on Wednesday, Mar. 8. The match is set for an 11 a.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
