CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Samford women's tennis team picked up a 4-3 non-conference win at College of Charleston Thursday afternoon.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 6-4 on the season. College of Charleston falls to 6-4 with the loss.
 
Samford won on the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts to take a 1-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles, Samantha Nanere and Lindsay Song defeated Slade Coetzee and Halli Trinkle, 6-4. On the No. 2 doubles spot, Alexis Lopez and Lauren Waddles defeated Ella Faessler and Nicole Stephens, 6-4. The match at No. 3 doubles was not finished.
 
In singles, Samford picked up wins at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 to earn the 4-3 win. Lopez won at No. 1 singles, earning a 6-4, 6-3 win over Coetzee. At No. 3 singles, Nanere defeated Maja Jekauc, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. On the No. 4 singles court, Song picked up a 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 win over Faessler.
 
Samford will host Middle Tennessee on Friday, March 17. The match is set for a 1:30 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
