CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Samford women's tennis team dropped its regular season finale at Western Carolina, 4-3, Saturday afternoon.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 12-7 overall and 4-3 in Southern Conference play. Western Carolina improves to 14-8 overall and 2-4 in league play.
 
In doubles, Samford won at the No. 1 position, with Lindsay Song and Samantha Nanere defeating Dasha Osadova and Leilany Ipunesso, 6-3. WCU, however, won at No. 2 and No. 3 to earn the first point of the match.
 
In singles, Samford won at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 6, but the Catamounts took the matches at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 for the 4-3 win. At No. 1 singles, Alexis Lopez defeated Isabella Sambola, 6-2, 6-3. On the No. 4 singles court, Nanere earned a 6-3, 5-7, retired, win over Andrea Redondo. At No. 6 singles, Olivia Jablonski defeated Osadova, 7-5, 6-0.
