Bulldogs Take Down Wofford, 4-3, At Home

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team continued its recent hot streak with a 4-3 win over Wofford Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs have now won six of their last seven matches. Wofford falls to 10-9 overall and 1-4 in league action.
 
Samford swept the three doubles matches to earn the first point of the contest. At No. 1 doubles, Lindsay Song and Samantha Nanere defeated Breda Brennan and Georgia Fischer, 6-2. On the No. 2 doubles court, Lauren Waddles and Alexis Lopez earned a 6-1 win over Lily Woods and Emma Sorensen. At No. 3 doubles, Olivia Jablonski and Cameron Rogin defeated Emely Kahrs and Brianna Wilbur, 6-4.
 
In singles, Wofford won at No. 5, Samford won at No. 1, and Wofford then took wins at No. 4 and No. 3 for a 3-2 Terrier lead. Samford then won at No. 2 and No. 6 to secure the 4-3 victory.
 
At No. 1 singles, Lopez defeated Woods, 7-5, 6-3. On the No. 2 singles court, Ally Hayduk picked up a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Brennan. On the No. 6 singles court, Jablonski defeated Catherine Blouin, 5-7, 6-4, 6-0.
 
Samford will next host Furman on Friday, April 7. The match is set for a 1 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
