CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The No. 3-seeded Samford women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought, 4-3 match to the No. 6-seeded Wofford Terriers in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament Thursday afternoon at the Champions Club.
 
With the loss, Samford ends its season with a mark of 12-8. Wofford improves its record to 12-10, and the Terriers advance to Friday's semifinal round.
 
The deciding match came at the No. 2 singles position. With the score tied at 3-3, that match went to a third and deciding set, with Wofford's Breda Brennan picking up a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 win over Samford's Ally Hayduk.
 
In doubles, Wofford won at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to take an early 1-0 lead. The match at No. 1 doubles was not finished.
 
In singles, Samford won at No. 5, where Cameron Rogin defeated Emely Kahrs, 6-4, 6-0 to knot the score at 1-1. Wofford then retook the lead at 2-1 when Brianna Wilbur defeated Lindsay Song, 6-3, 6-2 on the No. 3 court. At No. 6 singles, Wofford's Catherine Blouin defeated Olivia Jablonski, 6-2, 6-1 for a 3-1 Terrier lead.
 
At No. 4 singles, Samantha Nanere earned a 7-5, 7-5 win over Georgia Fischer to cut the lead to 3-2. Alexis Lopez then tied the score at 3-3 with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win over Lily Woods at No. 1 singles.
