BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to cross-town rival UAB Wednesday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 9-9 on the season. UAB improves to 14-5 with the victory.
 
In doubles, UAB won on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts to take the first point of the match. Samford won on the No. 1 doubles court, with Maxwell Giddens and Sandeep Mohandoss defeating Michal Lusovsky and Noah Malige, 6-3.
 
In singles, Samford won at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, but UAB earned victories at No. 1, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 to earn the 5-2 win. At No. 2 singles, Giddens defeated Roman Postolka, 7-5, 6-3. On the No. 3 singles court, Mohandoss earned a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 win over Vojtech Podzemny.
 
Samford will play its final home match of the season when the Bulldogs host Chattanooga on Saturday, April 8. The match is set for a 1 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
