Bulldogs Set For SoCon Outdoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Cullowhee, N.C., to compete in the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships Monday and Tuesday at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
The women's team will be attempting to win a fourth-straight SoCon Outdoor Championship, while the men's squad will be going for a third-straight title.
Last season, the Bulldog men won with 226 points, their second-most ever in the SoCon outdoor meet. Samford finished with a 149-point margin of victory over runner-up Western Carolina (149 points). VMI finished third with 123 points.
On the women's side, Samford totaled 224 points, finishing 86 points clear of runner-up ETSU (138). Western Carolina (133) and Wofford (117) also surpassed the century mark.
Samford returns the winners of seven different events from last season's meet. Brittany Bishop (women's pole vault), Hannah Daffin (women's shot put and hammer throw), Erin Long (women's javelin throw), Ty Kimberlin (men's long jump and decathlon) and Jed Sisco (men's pole vault) are all current Bulldogs who won individual titles last season,
