Samford Track & Field Returns to Action At The Vulcan Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Following the Christmas break, the Samford men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2024 calendar year at the Vulcan Invite hosted by UAB at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
In total, nine Bulldogs finished in the top three of their respective events, with three claiming first place.
On the men's side, the trio of Zephaniah Carico-McLennan (1:54.60), Harrison Siegel (1:55.29) and Grayton Murray (1:58.34) swept the podium in the 800-meter. Brenden Vanderpool took home first in the Men's pole vault at 5.10 meters followed closely by Jed Sisco in second at 5.05 meters.
Adeline Haisch led the women's team by winning the 800-meter with a time of 2:11.16. Ayden Drake ran the 400-meter in 58.25 seconds to place in second place. In the women's pole vault, Antonina Tereshchenko came in second at 3.66 meters. Rounding the Bulldog women on the podium, Ellison Chadwick finished second in the long jump with a distance of 5.75 meters.

Samford will host the Samford Invitational on January 19 and the Samford Open on January 20 at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
