
Bulldog Track & Field Opens Home Indoor Slate With The Samford Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's and women's track and field team kicked off the first home weekend of the 2024 indoor season with the Samford Invitational held at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Friday.
In total, 13 Bulldogs finished in the top three of their respective events, with four claiming first place.
On the men's side, Ian Jones took home top billing in the triple jump with a distance of 14.76 meters. The duo of Zephaniah Carico-McLennan and Harrison Siegel placed first and second in the Men's 800 with times of 1:51.10 and 1:52.01 respectively.
In the men's pole vault, Jed Sisco cleared a height of 5.26 meters to finish second while Brenden Vanderpool came in third with a height of 5.16 meters. Titus Moore ran a 7.96 in the 60-meter hurdles to place second. Freshman Arthur Chitty finished second with a high jump of 2.07 meters. To round out the men's medalist, Samuel Werner accumulated 5,185 points for a third-place finish in the men's Heptathlon.
The Samford women started the day off with Ellison Chadwick winning the long jump with a distance of 5.90 meters. In the women's 3000-meter race, a pair of Bulldogs bookended the podium with Edie Smith (9:53.81) placing first and Sinkenesh Parker (10:19.42) finishing third. In the high jump, sophomore Dorsey Parker finished second with a height of 1.66 meters. Katie Keller claimed third in the mile with a time of 4:48.53.

The Bulldogs will close out the weekend by hosting the Samford Open on Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
