GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. CUMBERLAND (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford women's basketball team will return home for its final non-conference game when the Bulldogs play host to Cumberland Friday at 6 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
The Bulldogs and Phoenix are meeting for the first time ever in women's basketball. Samford comes into this game with a record of 7-7. The team played at Kentucky on Sunday, Dec. 31, falling by a score of 72-59.
 
 So far this season, sophomore Masyn Marchbanks leads the team in scoring, averaging 10.9 points per game. Sophomore Carly Heidger scores 10.4 points and grabs 5.1 rebounds per game. Graduate transfer Lexie Pritchard averages 8.5 points per game. She also leads the team in assists, dishing out 4.0 per game. Graduate transfer Sadie Stetson is averaging 8.5 points per game. She also leads the squad in steals, claiming 22 so far this season. Emily Bowman averages 7.2 points and a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game. Bowman leads the SoCon and ranks eighth in the nation in blocked shots per game, averaging 2.79 per contest.
 
Entering this game, Samford ranks second in the Southern Conference in blocked shots, averaging 4.00 per game. Individually, in addition to Bowman, Pritchard ranks second in the league in assist-turnover ratio (1.3) and ranks fourth in assists per game (4.0), while Stetson ranks third in steals (1.6 pg.).
 
Cumberland comes into the game with a mark of 7-6 overall on the season. The Phoenix most recently played Lawrence Tech, falling by a score of 77-74.
 
Cumberland has been led so far this season by Kayla Gordon, averaging 15.2 points and 2.5 assists per game. Lindsey Freeman averages 14.8 points and a team-high 8.2 rebounds per game for the Phoenix. Myajae Eubanks is currently averaging 8.9 points per game for Cumberland.
