BIRMINGHAM, Ala – The Samford men's tennis team won every available point against the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M, earning a 7-0 win on Sunday at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 3-3 on the season while Alabama A&M continues to search for its first win, falling to 0-3 on the season.
 
Doubles matches started the day's event on the indoor courts, seeing a Samford victory on courts No. 1 and No. 3. On court No. 1, Sandeep Mohandoss and Maxwell Giddens teamed up for a 6-2 victory. Will Gray and Darcy Nicholls clinched the doubles point on court No. 3 with a 6-4 win.
 
The match then moved outdoors for the singles portion. On the change from indoor to outdoor, Head Coach Oliver Reynolds praised the team's ability to adapt: "They had to quickly get used to dealing with outdoor weather conditions and a much slower pace of play. I think they handled it very well."
 
Giddens picked up his second singles win of the season on the No. 1 court with a 6-3 6-3 victory over Chetanna Amadike. Mohandoss continued the Bulldog streak with a win over Vence N'TCha (6-3,6-2) on the No. 2 court.
 
Nicholls won his third straight singles matchup on the No. 3 court against Yin Chih Lan (5-7, 7-6, 10-6). Maksim Bogdanovich contributed to the Samford cause on the No. 4 court, 6-3, 6-2. J.B. Pickard bested Kai Cowcher, 7-6, 6-1 on the No. 5 court. Closing out the shutout, Sebastian Harrison topped Freddie Lawrence, 6-3, 6-1 on the No. 6 court.
 
"I thought we competed well today. It is never easy to win 7-0 against any team," Reynolds said. "Moving forward we still need to iron out a few things here and there, but I am pretty happy with how our guys are showing up in practices and matches."
 
Samford continues its 2024 campaign on the road Wednesday, Feb 14 against Kennesaw State at 2 p.m. (CT).
