Bulldogs Win ASU Spring Classic For Third-Straight Year

PRATTVILLE, Ala. – The Samford women's golf team won the ASU Spring Classic for a third-straight year, taking the event, hosted by Alabama State University, Sunday and Monday. The tournament was shortened from three rounds to two rounds due to weather conditions.

"This was another long day, but it was a fun day," Samford head coach Joe Davidson said. "The conditions were tough early, and we seemed to hang in there. We got production from Christian (Williams) and Ella (Stoll) that was important, and Gabi (Nicastro) got another solid win. It's always fun when you win, but we've got a lot of work to do prior to hosting in Huntsville."

As a team, Samford finished with a two-round score of 608 (302-306). The Bulldogs finished 20 strokes ahead of second-place Troy at 628 (308-320).

Individually, Samford freshman Gabi Nicastro earned the second tournament win of her first collegiate season, firing a two-round score of 144 (70-74), to finish at the top of the 53-player field. Christian Williams placed second with a score of 152 (75-77), while Ella Stoll tied for fourth at 154 (80-74).

Bailey Dunstan finished in a tie for 13^th with a score of 160 (77-83). Kelley Topiwala placed in a tie for 20^th at 162 (81-81).

Next up, the Bulldogs will host the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate, Mar. 4-6.
