Women’s Tennis Suffers Setback At Troy, 4-3

TROY, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team dropped a close match against the home Troy Trojans, 4-3 Thursday afternoon.

With the result, Samford dropped to 3-6 on the season. Troy improved to 6-3.

Samford won the doubles point to start the match on courts No.1 and No. 2. On the No. 1 doubles court, Emily Surcey and Grace Keller blanked Valeriia Avdeeva and Leena Metwally 6-0. Ally Hayduk and Margaret Jaraczewski teamed up on the No. 2 court to secure the doubles point with a 6-1 victory over Hagar Ramadan-Amin and Emilia Namyslo.

In the singles competition, Alexis Lopez won on the No. 1 court over Kristina Kukaras 7-5, 6-3. Emily Surcey secured the final Bulldog point of the match with her win on the No. 2 court over Hagar Ramadan-Amin 6-2, 1-6, 6-4. Troy won on the other four singles courts to secure the 4-3 win.

The Bulldogs will return to action against the College of Charleston on Wednesday, Mar. 6. The match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. (CT) from Charleston, S.C.
