BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team earned a 7-0 win over Alabama A&M Thursday at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improved its record to 8-11 on the season. Alabama A&M dropped to 5-14 with the loss.
 
In doubles, Samford won at No. 1 and No. 2 to capture the first point of the match. At No. 1 doubles, Alexis Lopez and Noelle Mauro defeated Ariadna Ondo Cerezo and Gabrille Henderson, 6-2. On the No. 2 doubles court, Emily Surcey and Grace Keller defeated Ntokozo Zungu and Alicia Owegi, 6-1. The match at No. 3 doubles was not finished.
 
Samford then swept all six singles matches to finish out the 7-0 win. At No. 1 singles, Lopez defeated Zungu. 6-0, 6-1. At the No. 2 singles position, Surcey earned a 6-0, 6-3 win over Cerezo. At No. 3 singles, Ally Hayduk defeated Owegi, 6-3, 6-2.
 
At No. 4 singles, Mauro defeated Henderson, 6-2, 6-0. On the No. 5 singles court, Margaret Jaraczewski defeated Hannah Nagpall, 7-5, 6-4. At No. 6 singles, Meredith Taylor defeated Sofia Sotelo Raya, 6-2, 6-2.
 
Samford will wrap up its regular season by hosting UNC Greensboro on Saturday, April 13. The match is set for an 11 a.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
