BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a commanding 7-0 win over UNC Greensboro Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improved its record to 9-11 overall and 4-3 in Southern Conference play. UNCG fell to 3-18 overall and 1-6 in league play with the loss.
 
Samford swept the three doubles matches to capture the first point of the match. At No. 1 doubles, Alexis Lopez and Noelle Mauro defeated Arina Babkova and Olivia Gallagher, 6-2. On the No. 2 doubles court, Emily Surcey and Grace Keller earned a 6-3 win over Alexandra Dodashev and Sydney Bly. At No. 3 doubles, Margaret Jaraczewski and Lauren Waddles defeated Juliana Craft and Lauren Thomson, 6-2.
 
The Bulldogs also swept all six singles matches to close out the 7-0 win. At No. 1 singles, Lopez defeated Babkova, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2. On the No. 2 singles court, Surcey picked up a 7-5, 6-1 win over Dodashev. At No. 3 singles, Ally Hayduk defeated Gallagher, 6-1, 6-2.
 
On the No. 4 singles court, Mauro defeated Craft, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. At No. 5 singles, Jaraczewski defeated Thomson, 7-6, 4-6, 6-1. On the No. 6 singles court, Meredith Taylor defeated Bly, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1.
 
Samford will be the No. 3 seed in next week's Southern Conference Tournament, held in Chattanooga. Samford will open the tournament by taking on the No. 6 seed Chattanooga Thursday at 9:30 a.m. (CT).
