BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team defeated Presbyterian College, 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
This is Samford's second win of the weekend which boosted the Bulldogs to 3-1 so far in the season. Presbyterian College moved to 0-4 with the loss.
 
Samford won the doubles matches at No. 2 and No. 3, both by 6-0 scores to take the first point of the match.
 
Samford won four of the six singles matches. Emily Surcey defeated Claudia Sanchez 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1, Margaret Jaraczewski beat McKenzie Davis 6-2, 7-5 on the No. 2 court, Eleni Liakonis defeated Sofia Rodrigo Hidalgo 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Grace Keller defeated Mary Ellen Longmire 7-6, 6-0 on the No. 6 singles court.
 
Samford will continue its early season home stand on Friday, Jan. 31 against Alabama State. The match is set for a 1 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
