SPARTANBURG, S.C. –The Southern Conference named Samford freshman quarterback
Brady Stober as its Offensive Player of the Week when the league released its weekly football awards Monday afternoon.
This is the second award Stober has earned for his performance in Saturday's 24-22 Southern Conference win at VMI, as he was named the Stats Perform National Freshman of the Week earlier on Monday.
Saturday's game was Stober's first collegiate start. He put together an impressive performance, completing 34-of-43 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns. He threw touchdown passes from 15, 22 and 27 yards out in the victory.
With the game on the line late in the fourth quarter, Stober led the team on a 14-play, 67-yard drive to set up
Jake Garner's 37-yard game-winning field goal with 1:28 to go in the game to give Samford the 24-22 win.
Next up, Samford will return home to take on the Chattanooga Mocs on Saturday, Oct. 25. The game is set for a 2:30 p.m. start from Pete Hanna Stadium.
