BIRMINGHAM. Ala. –Samford freshman quarterback
Brady Stober was named the Stats Perform National Freshman of the Week when the organization released its weekly FCS awards Monday morning.
Stober, in his first collegiate start, helped lead the Bulldog football team to a 24-22 road Southern Conference win at VMI Saturday afternoon.
For the game, Stober completed 34-of-43 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns. Stober tossed touchdown passes from 15, 22 and 27 yards out. Stober also led the team in rushing with 13 carries for 45 yards.
With Samford trailing by a score of 22-21 late in the fourth quarter, Stober led the team on a 14-play, 67-yard drive to set up
Jake Garner's 37-yard game-winning field goal with 1:28 to go in the game.
Next up, Samford will return home to take on the Chattanooga Mocs on Saturday, Oct. 25. The game is set for a 2:30 p.m. start from Pete Hanna Stadium.
