Sloan Named Interim Head Coach For Remainder Of Season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –Samford University has named Scot Sloan as the school's interim head football coach for the remainder of the 2025 season, the school announced Monday.
 
Sloan is in his first season as Samford's defensive coordinator. A veteran defensive coach with more than 30 years of experience, Sloan has served as either defensive coordinator or co-defensive coordinator in 16 of those seasons. 
 
Sloan has served as the defensive coordinator or co-defensive coordinator at Samford, Appalachian State, Army, Georgia Southern and Georgia Military College. He was also the recruiting coordinator at Appalachian State and Georgia Military College. Sloan also has head coaching experience at the high school level at Riverside Military Academy in Georgia in 2009.
 
Samford has two games remaining on the 2025 schedule. The Bulldogs will play at Austin Peay on Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. and the team will then play at Texas A&M on Nov. 22 at 11 a.m.
