BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Gainesville, Fla. to play the Florida Gators Thursday evening at 6 p.m in the Exactech Arena.
The Bulldogs and Gators are meeting for the third time ever in women's basketball. This game is the Bulldogs second of four against a power four opponent this season.
The Bulldogs are coming off a road trip to Lincoln,Neb. where they faced the Huskers who are a part of the Big Ten conference.
Briana Rivera led the Bulldogs against the Huskers with 14 points. This is Briana's second game back to back where she led in scoring, in the previous game Rivera scored 18 points against Montevallo.
Aubrey Blankenship was the second scoring leader for the game with eight points, four rebounds and steal.
Emily Snoddy (Bowman) lead in rebound with seven.
Florida's is currently 3-0, having played the beginning of their season at home. They most recently defeated Jacksonville State 100 to 55. Florida has played Samford 's conference opponent Chattanooga for their second game of the season, beating them 94-52.
The last two meetings between the Bulldogs and Gators were in the 2019-2020 season and the 2011-2012 season, Gators lead the series 2-0.
