MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -The Samford women's basketball team fell to Minnesota, 77–40, on Monday evening at Williams Arena. Despite early offensive challenges, the Bulldogs demonstrated improved their offensive game in the second half.
Samford was led by freshman guard
Avary Brewer, who recorded a career-high 17 points, including four made three-pointers, and provided a significant lift off the bench. Sophomore guard
Briana Rivera added nine points, while senior guard
Sierra Godbolt contributed eight points.
After scoring nine points in the opening half, Samford responded with 31 second-half points showing increased efficiency from the field. The Bulldogs' bench accounted for 25 of the team's 40 points.
Minnesota held advantages in rebounding and interior scoring; however, Samford continued to compete throughout the contest, generating multiple defensive stops and settling into a stronger offensive rhythm as the game progressed.
Samford (4–6) will continue non-conference play at Tennessee Tech on December 4th at 11 a.m.
