BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team ran its win streak to nine-straight matches with a 6-1 win over Tennessee State Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improved its record to 9-2. Tennessee State fell to 0-5 with the loss.
 
In doubles, Samford won on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts to pick up the first point of the match. At No. 1 doubles, J.B. Pickard and Darcy Nicholls defeated Jonasz Dziopak and James Adler Germinal, 6-0. On the No. 2 doubles court, Hayden Menon and Sandeep Mohandoss defeated Taj Hibbert and Tatenda Mutetwa, 6-4.
 
In singles, Samford won on the first five courts to close out the 6-1 win. At No. 1 singles, Mohandoss defeated Dziopak, 6-1, 7-5. At No. 2 singles, Nicholls earned a 7-5, 6-0 win over Hibbert.
 
On the No. 3 singles court, Menon defeated Mutetwa, 6-3, 6-1. At No. 4 singles, Pickard earned a 6-2, 7-6 win over Rohan Loubser. On the No. 5 singles court, Sebastian Harrison defeated James Adler Germinal, 2-6, 6-4, 10-8.
 
Next up, Samford will play at North Alabama on Sunday, Feb. 23. The match is set for a 1 p.m. start from Florence, Ala.
