Bulldogs Earn 4-3 Win At Western Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Samford women's tennis team earned a 4-3 win at Western Kentucky Wednesday afternoon at the Warren County Tennis Facility.
 
With the win, Samford improved its season record to 7-3. Western Kentucky fell to 6-4 with the loss.
 
In doubles, Samford won on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts to secure the first point of the match. At No. 2 doubles, Margaret Jaraczewski and Hailey Troup defeated 85th-ranked Sofia Blanco and Rachel Hermanova, 7-5. On the No. 3 doubles court, Eleni Liakonis and Meredith Taylor defeated Sunskrithi Damera and Mariana Zegada, 6-1. The match at No. 1 doubles was not finished.
 
In singles, Samford earned wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 to finish off the 4-3 win. At No. 3 singles, Liakonis defeated Mia Miranda, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2. On the No. 4 singles court, Taylor earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Zegada. At No. 6 singles, Libby Blair defeated Elizabeth Sobieski, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
 
Next up, Samford will play host to Troy on Friday, Feb. 28. The match is set for a 1:30 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
