BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Georgia Southern Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
With the loss, Samford fell to 9-4 on the season. Georgia Southern improved its record to 7-5 with the win.
Georgia Southern won on the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts to take a 1-0 lead. The match at No. 3 doubles was not finished.
In singles, Samford earned wins at No. 1 and No. 6, but GSU won on the other four courts to secure the 5-2 win. At No. 1 singles,
Sandeep Mohandoss defeated Dimitris Paliouras, 7-6, 6-4. On the No. 6 singles court,
Santiago Arredondo defeated Matthew Mitchell, 6-2, 6-3.
Samford will open Southern Conference play by hosting The Citadel on Sunday at 12 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Center.
