BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to ETSU Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the loss, Samford fell to 9-9 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference play. ETSU improved its record to 9-7 overall and 3-0 in league play.
 
Samford swept the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles, Emily Surcey and Sara Erenda defeated Daniela Rivera and Alessandra Caceres, 7-5. On the No. 2 doubles court, Margaret Jaraczewski and Grace Keller earned a 6-0 win over Jana Rovira and Julia Millan. At No. 3 doubles, Eleni Liakonis and Meredith Taylor defeated Ralitsa Alexandrova and Ksenija Rage, 6-2.
 
ETSU, however, swept the six singles matches to take the 6-1 win.
 
Next up, Samford will play host to Furman on Saturday, April 5. The match is set for an 11 a.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
