MACON, Ga. – The Samford women's tennis team fell, 5-2, at Mercer Thursday afternoon.
With the loss, Samford fell to 9-12 overall and 1-5 in Southern Conference play. Mercer improved to 7-13 overall and 3-4 in league play.
Mercer won on the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles courts to take an early 1-0 lead.
In singles, Samford won at No. 4 and No. 5, but Mercer won at the other positions to take the 5-2 win. At No. 4 singles,
Meredith Taylor defeated Dzhastina Mikhnova, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9). On the No. 5 singles court,
Sara Erenda defeated Marie Bannmeyer, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
Samford will wrap up the regular season by playing at Chattanooga on Saturday, April 12. The match is set for an 11 a.m. (CT) start from Chattanooga, Tenn.
